Sharon Likes, age 84, of Camp Point died at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Sterling.
Sharon was born October 27, 1937, in Benville, IL., a daughter of Leonard and Dorothy Mock Lane.
She married Donald Likes on November 14, 1958, in Mt. Sterling, IL. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2018.
Professionally she worked in several offices over the years, including real estate, Red Cross in New York and most recently G & W Tire in Camp Point before her retirement. After her retirement she volunteered at Christ Outreach in Camp Point and also served dinners at the First Christian Church.
In her early years, Sharon and her husband enjoyed golf and bowling. They belonged to several leagues and she was a charter member of Arrowhead Golf Course. She loved her grandchildren more than anything in the whole world, and cherished the time she spent with them. She had a passion for gardening and loved tending to her flowers.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Likes, Camp Point; her daughter, Kathy Melvin (Todd), Queen Creek, AZ.; four grandchildren, Zoe and Zane Melvin, Queen Creek, AZ., and Lydia Likes (Josh) and Jeremy Likes (Sharlene), Quincy; her brothers, Leonard “L.W.” Lane (Karen), Burlington, IA., and Jerry Lane, Carlinville, IL., her sisters-in-law, Zelma Lane, Quincy, and Eleanor Lane, Springfield, IL.; her brother-in-law, Forrest "Butch" Likes (Carol), Camp Point, and sister-in-law, Karen Likes, Camp Point; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Duane "Pete" Lane, and Donald "Shorty" Lane, one sister in law, Bonnie Lane, and one brother in law, Ronald Likes.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Camp Point by Pastor Richard A. Fordyce. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Camp Point, IL.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Camp Point; the First Baptist Church of Mt. Sterling; or Bailey Park.
