Sandra K Zimmerman

Sandra Kay Zimmerman, 81, of Quincy, died peacefully Friday afternoon, March 7, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, surrounded by her family.

Sandy was born on February 25, 1944, in the Columbus Township, the daughter of Cluster and Erma E. Bunte Tournear. She married Richard Zimmerman on April 20, 1985, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Coatsburg. He survives.

Sandy was a 1962 graduate of Camp Point Central High School. She was a former member of the Coatsburg Paloma Lioness Club and a dedicated supporter of the Paloma United Methodist Church. Among her jobs, Sandy waited tables after school at the Stockyard Inn, worked at Motorola and successfully owned and operated The Paloma Restaurant for many years.

She lived a life defined by love, generosity, and devotion to her family and faith. Known for her giving spirit, she found great joy in helping others and was known as a special lady to so many people. Her deep Christian faith guided her throughout her life, and Sandy cherished her family above all else and took great care of those she loved.

She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going to their activities, and they all enjoyed spending time with her. In her free time, she enjoyed reading novels, shopping and enjoyed visiting the gambling boat.

In addition to her husband Rick, Sandy is survived by three sons: Scott (Carol) Hull of Quincy; Jamie (Jenna) Hull of Quincy; and Jeff (Mary) Hull of Quincy; six sisters: Carolyn (Michael) West of Green Lane, Pennsylvania; Edna Mae Tenhouse-Flesner of Quincy; Darlene (Harry) Myers of Quincy; Marilyn (Gene) Heins of Pittsfield; Pauline Harrett of Quincy; and Alice Geisler of San Diego, California; and brother-in-law, Lyle Campbell; grandchildren: Kalyn (Ryne) Kirlin; Kelsey (Joshua) Healey; Kylie (Blake) Carlin; Lissa Hull; Keaton Hull; Josiah Hull; Sheriden Hull; Ragan Hull; Emmett Hull; Araya Hull; and Ethan Hull as well as six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and father to her children, Ronald Hull.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Maurice Tournear; and Lowell Tournear; and three sisters: Lucille Deming, Gladys Phillips, and Erma Campbell; and seven brothers-in-law: Loyd Tenhouse; Kenneth Flesner; Robert Phillips; Paul Harrett; Don Geisler; and Kenneth Deming.

Her kindness and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Lutheran Church of St. John, 3440 State Street, Quincy, IL. Burial will follow at Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of St. John in Quincy.

Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of St. John or the Quincy Medical Group Foundation.
