Richard L. Garlick, 89, of Plymouth, IL died at 4:10 am Monday March 11, 2024 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
He was born on April 10, 1934 in Plymouth, IL to Lewis and Eva Mae Aten Garlick. He married Rayla Bush on November 18, 1956 in Macomb, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2011.
Richard was a truck driver and operated DJ’s Tavern with his wife Rayla in Plymouth for many years. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plymouth. Richard was a lifetime member of the Plymouth American Legion and the Augusta VFW. He served in the United States Army.
He is survived by a daughter, Cathy Irene (Bill Barrett) Garlick of Augusta, IL, 2 sons, William Lewis (Patti Taylor) Garlick of Carthage, IL , Ronald Lee Garlick of Birmingham, IL, 7 grandchildren, Stephanie, David, Katrina, Todd, Crystal, Trista and John, numerous great-grandchildren, a brother, Jim (Mary) Garlick of Colchester, IL and a sister, Betty Creasy of Taylorville, IL. and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Casey Nichol Fitzjarrald, 2 brothers, Kenny and Chuck Griffith and a sister, Joan Garlick.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday March 15, 2024 at Rosemont cemetery in Plymouth, IL. Burial with Military rites will be in Rosemont cemetery in Plymouth. Memorials may be made to the Plymouth American Legion.
The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements.
