R. Grant Diseron, 90, of Quincy, formerly of Bowen, IL., died at 4:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Born August 10, 1932, in Huntsville, IL., Grant was the son of Ernest and Pearl Koontz Diseron. He married Evelyn J. Allen on October 19, 1953, in Hollywood, CA. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2020.
Grant retired in 1997 from the Illinois State Highway Maintenance Department after 29 years of service. He served his country in the US Navy from 1952 until 1956 during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Quincy American Legion Post #37.
Grant enjoyed spending time with his wife square dancing, riding horses, attending their grandchildren's sporting events, and always looked forward to their annual winter vacations in McAllen, TX.
Surviving is his son, Ernie Diseron (Deanna), Plymouth, IL.; his daughter, Ginger Denny (Richie), Augusta, IL.; seven grandchildren, Wyatt Lantz (Tecia), Alyssa Hunt, Wendy Hamilton (Ben), Vince Diseron (Erin), Alex Denny (Stephanie), Michael Churchill, and Clinton Daniels; eleven great-grandchildren, Delaney (fiance' Ben Janssen), Brilyn, and Kash Lantz, Kendyl, Kaleb, and Ava Hunt, Madelyn and Grant Hamilton, Ryan and David Shipp, and Hannah Diseron; and his two nieces, Joyce Ozella (Mike), and Janet Allen (Dave).
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn; his brother in infancy, Donald Diseron; and his sister, Dorothy Mink.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL. By Chaplain Josh Vahle. Burial with military honors by the Quincy American Legion Post #37 will follow at the Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville, IL.
A visitation will be held Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Quincy American Legion or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
