Nancy Lou Ehrgott Ihnen, 77, of LaPrairie, IL., passed away at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Born February 15, 1946, in Quincy, IL., Nancy was the daughter of Emmett E. and Genevieve "Jeni" McNay Ehrgott. Nancy attended Dewey school in Quincy where she was active in Brownies and Girl Scouts as her mother was the leader and attended Quincy Jr. High.
In 1959, along with her parents, she moved to Mendon where her parents grew up. She attended Mendon grade school and Unity High School.
On April 2, 1961 she married Art L. McMullen . To this union was born three children; Artie (Peggy) McMullen, Tony (Teresa) McMullen, and Amy Heinecke. This marraige was dissolved in September of 1983. On January 24, 1987, she married Steven Jay Ihnen in Las Vegas, NV., at the Wee Kirk Ore the Heather Wedding Chapel. They resided on a farm near LaPrairie.
Jay and Nancy bought Bud's Tavern, July 1, 1984 and still operate Jay and Nancy's Tavern today. They farmed and raised cattle. They also were involved in their sons tractor pulling, grandchildren's 4-H projects, showing lambs, goats and rabbits. Five of the grandchildren were 4-H members.
Nancy was an active volunteer with 3-Adams-19 as an EMT and CPR instructor. She volunteered with the American Red Cross as a disaster agent and an AFES agent, a 4-H leader and on various church committees. A twenty year member of Tri-County Country Club where she never mastered golf. She enjoyed traveling and camping at Oakwood Acres Campground where friends are like famlly.
She is survived by her husband, Jay, her children, Artie (Peggy), Tony (Teresa), and Amy; her grandchildren, Tony L. McMullen (Holly), Katie McMullen, Christina McMullen, Olivia McManus (Scott), Madelyn Heinecke-Thompson (Clayton), Abigail Heinecke (Carter) and Kayla Mock (Daniel) and their family; and her great grandchildren, Luna McMullen and Avery McManus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Emmett Ehrgott, Lula Ehrgott, Gilbert and Garnet McNay, her sister, Dixie (Jerry) Wellman, her brother, Wayne (Marilyn) Ehrgott, three daughters in infancy, Annette, and twins, June Ann and Jeni Lea; and two nephews, David Wellman and Richard Humke.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden by Pastor Tom Graves. Burial will follow at Golden Memorial Gardens, Golden, IL.
Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Homeward Bound Waggin, Inc., or the charity of the donor's choice.
