Millie Derry

Mildred A. “Millie” Derry, 76, of Augusta, IL passed away at 9:53 am Friday March 17, 2023 at her home in Augusta.

She was born on May 28, 1946 in Mt. Sterling, IL to Joseph and Moneta Roberts DeWitt. She was united in marriage to Arthur “Art” Derry on December 3, 1966 in Camden, IL. He survives.

Millie was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Mt. Sterling, IL and attended Carl Sandburg College in Carthage, IL. She served as the Village Clerk for Augusta for many years. She enjoyed doing all sorts of arts and crafts, painting and photography. Millie cherished spending time with her family.

Surviving along with her husband Art are two sons; Bill (Madeline) Derry of Plymouth, IL, Chad Derry of Augusta, IL, a daughter, Mary Jo (Larry) Maloney of Plymouth, IL, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters; Carol (Russ) White of Browning, IL, Joyce (Mitch) Michaud of Stafford, VA and Lilly (Pat) Ellison of Hamilton, IL, two brothers; Vernon (Angie) DeWitt of Timewell, IL and Richard (Kathy) Dewitt of New Baden, IL, and numerous nieces nephews and friends survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Jennifer Rossiter.

Per Mildred’s request cremation will be accorded. There are no services planned at this time.

The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements.
