Michael Roberts

Michael Eugene Roberts of Huntsville, Ill., passed away at 7:49 p.m. on Tuesday, February, 4, 2020, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy following a brief illness due to lung cancer at the age of 61.

Mike was born on September 9, 1958, to Jerald Thomas Roberts and Roberta Josephine (Downey) Roberts. He attended Southeastern High School and later served in the United States Army. He worked as a farm hand and later learned carpentry while working with his brothers Rick and Rod. Mike was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, mushrooming, and hunting, especially raccoon hunting with life-long friend Bud Hale and deer hunting with family.

Mike is survived by his partner Rhonda Huston of Huntsville, Ill., daughters Amanda (Sol) Roberts-Lieb of Bloomington, Ill.,and Leslie (Mike) Irons of Maroa, Ill; granddaughters Gillian and Grace Irons and Cecilia and Alice Roberts-Lieb; brothers Rick (Elizabeth Diane) Roberts of Argenta, Ill., Larry (Laura) Roberts of Augusta, Ill., and Rod Roberts of Argenta, Ill., sister Anna of Oklahoma; uncle Kenny Roberts of Augusta, Ill., and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Mike’s family wishes to extend their sincere thanks the doctors, nurses, and hospice care staff who attended to Mike during his final days.

Cremation rites have been accorded . A memorial graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday November 7, 2020 at Woodlawn cemetery in Augusta, IL. Memorials can be made to Children’s Organ Transplant Association for Team Irons (ota.org/campaigns/COTAforTeamIrons).
