Michael McDowell

  Michael R. McDowell, 43, of rural Baylis, died Friday, March 4, 2022.

     Born January 26, 1979, in Quincy, Michael was the son of Virgil and Odena Marie Sutton McDowell.

     Michael worked as a farmer. He loved spending his time outdoors on the farm whether it be hunting, trapping, fishing, or just spending time with his cattle, it was truly his safe haven.

     Survivors include his parents, Virgil and Odena McDowell, Baylis; his brother, Lucas McDowell (Alicia), Chatham, IL.; his niece, Alexis McDowell, and his nephews, Kendall and Carson McDowell, all of Chatham; his maternal grandmother, Juanita Oitker, Quincy; and his Blue Heeler, Copper.

     He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Virgil and Irene June McDowell; his maternal grandfather, Marion Sutton; his maternal step-grandfather, Clifton Oitker; and his sister, Jeannie McDowell.

     Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingston Cemetery.

     A visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.

     Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Camp.
