Marshall J. Porter, 88, of Plymouth, IL passed away Thursday December 5, 2024 at his home near Plymouth.
He was born on September 10, 1936 in Colchester, IL to Jesse and Gladys Hawkins Porter.
Marshall was a retired heavy equipment operator for McClure Quarry near Tennessee most of his working life. He spent 31 happy years with his long time companion, Pat Griswold. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2016. He was an avid gardener and prided himself in keeping his yard and lawn in tip top condition; he also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and all outdoor activities.
He is survived by a sister; Marilyn Reeves of Tennessee, IL, the children and grandchildren of his long time companion Pat Griswold,; Brad (Cindy Hays) Griswold of Plymouth, IL, Marshall Griswold of Macomb, IL and Angie (Todd) Rash of Macomb, IL grandchildren, Kelsie, Kyle and Kacie Rash and Brooke Chandler and Kimberly Griswold, numerous nieces nephews also survive along with his ex-wife, Marilyn Porter of Plymouth, Il.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Porter, 12 brothers and sisters and his long time companion of 31 years, Pat Griswold.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday December 10, 2024 at Rosemont cemetery in Plymouth, IL by Rev. Tom Spain. Memorials may be made to the Plymouth Circle Community Center.
The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements.
