Mark Lane

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, [Mark “Duke” Lane], who passed away in his home at the age of 65.

A loving father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Duke was known for his talent as a musician, his love of his Harley, his sense of humor, and his excellent dance moves. He cherished his time as a drummer with Ken Carlyse and the Cadillac Cowboys, loved the peace and quiet of the country, and found his greatest joy in being around his 2 grandsons.

Duke was born on May 12, 1959 in Rushville, IL to Duane L. “Pete” Lane and Zelma Bowen Lane. He married Dixie Pollock on July 3, 1983. Duke had an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in Electrical Technology from Vatterott and served as a Disabled Veterans Representative with the state of Illinois. He proudly served his country in the US Army as chinook pilot and safety officer and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Duke’s youngest daughter proudly followed his footsteps and served in the Army Reserves, including a deployment in Afghanistan.

He is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Dixie Lane of Normal, IL; 2 daughters, Megan (Tyler) Junk of Sugar Grove, IL and Paige Lane of Aurora, IL; 2 grandchildren Ethan Junk and Duke Lane; and a sister, Julie Lane of Quincy, IL.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
