Marian Shrader, 88, of rural Coatsburg, died at 3:05 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2021, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Born December 20, 1932, in Columbus Township, Marian was the daughter of Walter and Martha Goudschaal Corse. She married Donald Shrader on September 14, 1969, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1998.
Marian was a 1950 graduate of Maplewood High School in Camp Point. She was confirmed on March 28, 1948, Palm Sunday, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg. She was an active member of her church serving as Vice President of the St. Peter's Women, President of the Northwest Conference Women of the ELCA, and served as the board representative for the North West Conference with the Central/Southern Illinois Synod Women of the ELCA.
Mrs. Shrader worked as a homemaker and farmwife and was active in the Adams County National Farmers Organization, Illinois Farm Alliance, National Rifleman Association, Illinois Sustainable Equiculture, and the Tea Party Patriots. Marian's focus in life was Faith, Family, Farm, and Friends.
Surviving is her son Duane (Amy) Shrader, Quincy; her stepson, John Griffin, Hannibal, MO.; five step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepdaughter, Carolyn (Griffin) Koetters; her sister, Mrs. Anna (Donald) Decker; and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Coatsburg by Rev. Patricia Reep. Burial will follow at Graymount Cemetery in Coatsburg.
Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Coatsburg.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Women of the ELCA Churchwide Ministries.
