Louise H. Waner, 99, of Golden, IL went home to be with her Lord at 9:15 am Sunday February 4, 2024 at the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden, IL.
She was born on January 15, 1925 in Quincy, IL to John and Margaret Meyer. She married C. Neil Waner on November 28, 1946 in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2002.
Louise was a graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School. She was first employed as a switch board operator in a Quincy, IL department store. She met Neil at a dance in Quincy on the roof of the WCU building. After getting married, she helped him operate the family farm, learning to drive a tractor and tend to livestock. She was also an avid gardener and loved her flowers. She spent countless afternoons helping her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with their studies. She also loved attending her grandchildren/great-grandchildren’s school and community events.
She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church of Camp Point, IL.
She is survived by her son, Lyle (Janice) Waner of Rural Loraine, IL, 2 grandchildren, Jennifer (Darrell) Mowen of rural Baylis, IL, and Lucas Waner of Bowen, IL, 4 great-grandchildren, Bailey and Tracer Mowen, Avery and Deacon Waner.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Meyer.
A visitation will be held at the Lummis- Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point, IL on Saturday, February 10 from 9-10 am. A funeral mass will follow at 10:30 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point, IL. Burial will be at Bowen Cemetery near Bowen, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church or Golden Good Shepherd Home.
The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements.
