Lindell Johnson

     Mr. Clyde "Lindell" Johnson, 77, of rural Clayton, IL., passed away at 3:20 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024, at his home.

     Born February 23, 1946, in Quincy, IL., he was the son of Clyde and Geraldine Graff Johnson. He married Janet Schmidt on July 17, 1971, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point, IL. She survives.

     Mr. Johnson was employed as a groundskeeper at Spring Lake Country Club in Quincy. He enjoyed woodworking, old cars, and antique tractors.

     Surviving in addition to his wife is his son, Steven Johnson, Clayton; two sisters, Phyllis Hughes (Ron) and Emily; and his brother, Everrett Johnson.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Patricia Hesse; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herb and Betty Schmidt; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Mowens and Dale Schmidt.

     Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, January 22, 2024, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton by Rev. Scott Snider. Burial will follow at Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, IL.

     Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton.

     Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.
