Knox Leroy Cassens, 8 week old son of Devin and Torie Cassens of Camp Point, passed away Tuesday November 14, 2023 peacefully in his sleep.
Knox entered this world fast and furious on September 19, 2023 at 1:55 am, en route to Blessing Hospital. It came as a shock to his dad when he looked over and witnessed his arrival in the car just blocks away from the hospital. Safely caught in his mom’s arms, he continued to remain close his entire life, constantly wrapped to her snug tight with his head against her heart. In his short life, he knew nothing but love.
Knox enjoyed 8 weeks of big brother hugs and lots of pesters. 8 weeks of daddy’s morning snuggles and afternoon recliner naps. And 8 weeks of pure joy and bliss. Knox knew nothing but a life without pain.
“Our time with our sweet little Knox was cut way too short. We are so thankful you arrived into this world 9 days early to spend more precious time with you earthside. We will never forget your little grunts, sweet coos, or your newfound gummy smile.
We will never stop wondering who you would grow up to be or the things you would learn to love. You were sweet, snuggly, curious, and overall, so incredibly and deeply loved.
Although you were small, you were mighty. You touched the lives around you in ways we never thought possible.
We know there is a plan but right now it is hard to see. We will never forget you and our short time together. We promise to do everything in our power to keep your memory alive.
Love, your Mom, Dad + Big Brother”
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Ronald Leroy Conover and Ivan Lierly, and his paternal great-grandparents, Kathleen Laird and Wilmer and Norita Cassens.
