Kenneth Schluter

Kenneth A. Schluter, 90, of Quincy, Il formerly of Bowen, IL died at 7:30 pm Sunday March 7, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

He was born on August 15, 1930 in New Providence, IA to August and Martha Wagner Schluter. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Stansbery on April 11, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage, IL. They were married almost 67 years and she survives.

Kenneth was a 1948 graduate of Nashua, Iowa High School. He was employed by Morton Seed Company and later Americana Seed Company in Bowen, IL for 45 years retiring in 1992. Kenneth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bowen, IL. He proudly served his country in the Korean War with the US Army from 1951 to 1953. Kenneth enjoyed watching sports, attending stock car and nascar racing and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and musical events. He and Dorothy spent many winters in Florida.

He is survived by 2 sons; Kent (Wendy) Schluter of Chatham, IL, Keith Schluter of Macomb, IL, a daughter, Karen (David) Janssen of Augusta, IL 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a brother, Albert Schluter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vernon Schluter.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday March 11, 2021 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL by Rev. Mark Hanson.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Bowen cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of services Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Bowen Cemetery Association.
