June B Shappell

June B. Shappell, 100, of Plymouth, IL died at 5:00 am Saturday July 13, 2024 at her home.

She was born on June 12, 1924 in St. Mary’s Township near Carthage, IL to Harry and Luella Jones Evans. She was united in marriage to Robert Shappell on October 17, 1941 in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2004.

June attended Plymouth Schools and received her LPN License in Nursing from Carl Sandburg College in Carthage, IL. June was a homemaker and farm wife and was employed as a teller at the Community Bank of Plymouth for many years. She had served as a St. Mary’s Township assessor for 8 years. 

She is survived by a son; Ronald (Sheri) Shappell of Plymouth, IL, a grandson, Chris (Teresa) Shappell of Carthage, IL, a great-grandson, Jared Shappell of Eureka, MO, a half sister, Nancy O’Neil of Grand Junction, CO and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Shappell, 2 half-brothers, Arthur and Billy Murfin, 2 half- sisters, Beverly Mize and Nadine Hess.

As per June’s request cremation will be accorded and there will be no services. Private burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s cemetery and can be mailed to the Hamilton Funeral Home PO Box 368 Augusta, IL 62311.
