Judith Raye (Judy) Jibben, 79, of Coatsburg, passed away on Thursday, December 30th at Timberpoint Health Care Center in Camp Point.
Judy and her twin sister, Janet Kaye, were born on January 30th 1942, to Lloyd Wayne Decker and Marian June (Knight) Decker in Camp Point, IL. They were born prematurely and Janet passed away shortly after birth.
Judy graduated from Quincy High School in 1960 and then from Quincy Beauty Academy. In addition to being a beautician, she worked many years as a certified nursing assistant at several hospitals and nursing homes. She married John F. Jibben on November 1st, 1968 at the United Methodist Church parsonage in Columbus. They celebrated 53 years of marriage this past November.
According to Judy, her family was her greatest accomplishment. She loved nothing more than having all of “her kids,” including grandkids, at home. She cried when they got there and cried when they left. She loved “big” and unconditionally, and if her kids loved someone, she loved them too. Their only competition for her unconditional love was her dogs. Judy was an avid reader, and murder mysteries were her favorite! She also loved old country music. Conway Twitty made her swoon and was only topped by Elvis “who could really move his hips”. Visiting Graceland a few years ago was a dream come true.
Judy is survived by her husband, John; son, Monty and wife Danielle of Deerfield, IL; daughter, Melanie and husband, Jimmy Smith of Cobden, IL ; son, Matt and wife, Jane of Coatsburg, IL; grandchildren, Bryson, Samantha, Reed, Amanda, Elena and Alex; stepbrothers, Jeff Middendorf of Oklahoma, Joey Middendorf of Quincy and stepsister, Suzi Waters and husband, Thom, of Quincy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister and her step-mother, Mary E. Decker.
Per her wishes, Judy was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Columbus United Methodist Church.
A visitation will held Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Columbus United Methodist Church, Quincy Humane Society or Timberpoint Health Care Center.
