Joyce Hiland

Joyce A. Dean Hiland, 79, of Augusta, IL passed away at 8:45 pm Thursday November 30, 2023 at the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden, IL with her family at her side.

She was born on April 4, 1944 in Macomb, IL to Mark and Adelphia Casey Dean. She was married to Robert Hiland, they later divorced.

Joyce attended Augusta Schools. She had been employed at Rhodes Market in Augusta, IL, Thompson’s Food Basket in Macomb, IL, and worked as a CNA at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL. Joyce was well known in the area for the numerous wedding and birthday cakes she had made for over 35 years. She loved her cats, chickens, gardening, and enjoyed going to the gambling boats in the area. She cherished the time spent with her family the most.

She is survived by a daughter Jan (Harry) Gorton of Kinderhook, IL, 3 sons; Donnie (Donna)  Hiland, Ronnie (Julie) Hiland and Tim (Karen) Hiland all of Augusta, IL, 10 grandchildren, J.D. (Chrissy) Gorton, Jessica (Aaron) Bemis, Jodi Gorton, Lance (Paige) Hiland, Larissa (Brenton) Ruble, Kelsey Creasy, Kaitlyn (Matt) Becker, Marcus (Belle) Hiland, Kraig (Cierra) Hiland, Tasha (Aron) Koehler, numerous great-grandchildren and a nephew, Andy Switzer

She was preceded in death by her sister, Cherideth Switzer, a grandson, Michael Henze and her longtime companion, Dean Meyersick.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday December 4, 2023 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL with Pastor Sheri Renner officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Augusta. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 Sunday at the funeral home in Augusta, IL. Memorials may be made to Woodlawn Cemetery Association or Augusta Senior Citizens Center.

The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements
