James W. "Jim" Fleer, 88, of Camp Point, IL, passed away at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Timber Point Health Care Center in Camp Point.
Born April 13, 1936, in Quincy, IL, Jim was the son of Walter and Velma (Hurlbert) Fleer. He married Mary Lou Schaefer on November 25, 1960, in Quincy, IL. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2004.
As a young man, Jim worked as a car salesman for various dealers in the area. Later, he built a new facility in Camp Point to house his animal health business. Jim finished his career as a real estate agent before retiring.
Jim was a member of the Benjamin Masonic Lodge in Camp Point and proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, and gardening, and, in later years, found joy in watching and feeding the birds. His greatest joy came from being "grandpaw" to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children: James L. Fleer (fiancée Lisa LaRue), Quincy; Lisa Tittsworth, Camp Point; and Stephanie Fleer, Camp Point; his grandchildren: Reanah Vaughn (Andrew), Ursa, IL; Shawna Riggs (Nate), Jacksonville, FL; Jenna Fleer (Tyler Carpenter), Quincy; Victoria and Jocelynn Wagy, Tacoma, WA; and Genevieve and Annalise Peter, Camp Point; his great-grandchildren: Chanel, Presley, Axl, and Halen Riggs, Jacksonville, FL; and Alahni Wagy, Tacoma, WA; his brother, Dennis Fleer (Marilyn), Cedar Rapids, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son-in-law, Randy Tittsworth, a grandson, Kelton Peter, and his sister, Sue Lynn Fleer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point, officiated by Pastor Rick Fordyce. Burial with military honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Camp Point, IL.
A visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from noon until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Great River Honor Flight or the Timberpoint Healthcare Center Activity Fund.
