James L. "Jim" Brinkman

December 13, 1939 — July 19, 2024

 James L. "Jim" Brinkman, 84, of rural Mendon, IL, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, at his home.

 Born December 13, 1939, in Quincy, IL, Jim was the son of Lawrence and Hazel Wilkey Brinkman. He married Ruth E. Haistings on May 14, 1961, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg, IL. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2019.

 Jim was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg. He retired from the maintenance department of Moorman Manufacturing in Quincy after over 30 years of service. He later worked for Lee Fertilizer in Columbus. 

 In his retirement, Jim enjoyed volunteering with the Adams County Old Tyme Association. His greatest joy came from attending all his children's and grandchildren’s activities. He especially enjoyed watching all their sporting events, and most recently enjoyed spending time with his five great-grandchildren. 

 Survivors include his children, Doug (Laurie) Brinkman, Coatsburg, Andrea (Matt) Dearwester, Camp Point, IL, Angela (Troy) Kemp, Quincy, Darren Brinkman, Centralia, MO; ten grandchildren, Halie (Luke) Heinecke, Hayden Brinkman (fiance' Jennifer Burns), Nicolas (Ashley) Dearwester, Noelle Limkemann, Noah Dearwester, Natalie Dearwester, Alyson Kemp, Madeline Kemp, Caleb Brinkman, and Claire Brinkman; five great-grandchildren, Braxton Limkemann, Braylen Limkemann, Winston Dearwester, Evelyn Dearwester, and Waylon Heinecke; his sister, Joan Keemle, Peoria, IL; his brother, Jerry Brinkman, Tulsa, OK; two sisters in law, Nancy (Kenny) Leapley, Liberty, IL, and Anne (Darryl) Hunsaker, Camp Point; his brother in law, Donald Haistings, Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; his daughter-in-law, Karen Brinkman; his sister-in-law, Joyce Haistings; and his brother-in-law, Ray Keemle.

 Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg by Rev. Patricia Reep. Burial will follow at Graymount Cemetery, Coatsburg.

 A visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the Adams County Olde Tyme Association, St. Peter's Lutheran Church, or Graymount Cemetery.
