Harold C. Wilson, 73, of Clayton, IL passed away on January 16, 2025, peacefully in his home.
Harold was born on May 24, 1951, in Urbana, IL to Charles and Goldie (Baker) Wilson. He married Catherine “Katie” Hunter on January 28, 1978.
Surviving are his three children, Jason (Lynn) Dively of Norwalk, IA, Daniel (Evelyn) Dively of Augusta, IL and Tracy (Greg) Heil of Carmi, IL; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; Sisters: Linda (Randy) Carter and Betty Wilson; Brothers-in-law; Wayne (Cita) Hunter, Willard (Sharon) Hunter and Bobby Hunter; Sisters-in-law, Dee Dee (Jerome) Shafer and Barbara Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
Harold managed the Panfil family hog farm in Clayton, eventually buying it, for 26 years. After selling the hog farm, he went to work for Huck Store Fixtures for many years. He later retired from Titan Wheel after 11 years.
Harold’s passion for horses and the cowboy way of life was evident to all who knew him. He spent many years at the Adams County Fairgrounds, where he could often be found at the horse arena lending a helping hand and dedicating his time and energy helping with team sorting every other weekend.
A true lover of the rodeo, Harold enjoyed attending events with his close friends, often sharing stories of the adventures and experiences he had over the years.
In addition to his love for horses and rodeo, Harold was an avid outdoorsman who had a great love for hunting and fishing. His friends and family often recall the countless hunting and fishing trips they shared with him.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife Katie, brothers: Daniel Wilson, Bruce Wilson, and Alan Wilson; sisters-in-law: Pat Pispas, Mary Ann Groves, Cindy Wilson, and Francis Jo Wilson.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2025, at Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton, IL. A celebration of life will follow at 100 Proof Bar in Clayton, IL.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25th at 10 a.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton, IL. There will be a private burial for the family in Moweaqua, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Adams County Horse Club.
