George W Siepel

George W. Siepel, 95, a resident of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL formerly of Plymouth, IL went to be with his Lord at 12:13 am Monday October 28, 2024 at the Home. 

He was born on August 31, 1929 in Tennessee, IL to Isom and Flora Twitchell Siepel. He was united in marriage to Phyllis John on December 21, 1956 in Carthage, IL. She survives George.

George was a 1947 graduate of Plymouth High School and then went to serve his country in the Korean War with the United States Air Force. After returning from the service he engaged in farming most of his life and also was employed at NTN Bower in Macomb, IL for 28 years. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Plymouth American Legion Post # 912. In his spare time he enjoyed restoring antique John Deere tractors and displaying them in local parades.

He is survived along with his wife, Phyllis, by 2 sons; Randy (Sherri) Siepel of Newnan GA, Chris (Louie Vega) Siepel of Portland, OR, 2 daughters; Robin (George Kunz) Siepel of Bakersfield, CA, Cindy (Hunter) Beckham of Alexandria, VA, 5 grandchildren, David, Michael, Christopher, Shelby and Wes, 5 great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Wendy Siepel of Quincy, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son Ron Siepel, 2 brothers, Elbert and Keith Siepel and a sister, Margaret Siepel.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday November 2, 2024 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL with Pastor Jim Richardson officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Mary’s cemetery near Plymouth, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 Friday November 1, 2024 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to The Illinois Veterans Home.
