Donna Simmons

Donna Carol Simmons, 87, of Bowen, IL passed away at 4:48 pm Saturday March 29, 2025 at Carthage Memorial Hospital in Carthage, IL.

She was born on October 28, 1937 on a farm east of Bowen, IL to Carroll and Waunetta Jud Clampitt. Donna graduated from Augusta High School and then attended airline flight attendant training school in Omaha, NB, she then worked for Eastern Airlines while living in Chicago. She married her sweetheart, George Simmons on May 13, 1956 and they spent many happy years together until his passing on March 13, 2020. Donna and George were active church members their whole lives together.

Donna is survived by a granddaughter; Sarah Rodgers, great-granddaughter, Aina Rodgers, a brother, Roger (Joyce) Clampitt, son-in-law Leroy Rodgers, sister-in-law Donna Clampitt and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents and parent-in-laws, her daughter, Robin Nardi and her husband Pete Nardi and her brother, Gary Clampitt.

Cremation has been accorded. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta is handling arrangements.
