Donna McCutchan

Donna L. McCutchan, 89, of Quincy, IL formerly of Plymouth, IL died at 5:15 pm Sunday January 16, 2022 in the home of her daughter in Quincy, IL.

She was born on July 23, 1932 in Blandinsville, IL to Ivan Jennings and Beatrice Brown Dowacter. She married Charles D. “Chuck” McCutchan on August 17, 1956 at the Plymouth United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2016.

Donna was a 1949 graduate of Plymouth High School. She received her teaching degree from Western Illinois State Teachers College in Macomb, IL which started a decades long career teaching kindergarten, 2nd, and 5th grades in the Plymouth Community Schools. She was beloved by her students. She was a member of the former Plymouth United Methodist Church in Plymouth and the Plymouth Women’s Research Forum. Donna was always an active and outgoing person, she loved traveling, playing golf, hunting morel mushrooms, and beach combing, looking for shells which she loved to share. She was an avid geode hunter and loved hunting them as well as exploring with her sisters, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She also loved playing bridge, bird watching, and she loved anything that was colored Orange. Donna enjoyed gardening but hated dandelions and tried to eradicate these from yards, parks, golf courses or anywhere she found the blasted things!!

She is survived by her 4 children; Steve (Cathi) McCutchan of Kenosha, Wisconsin; Stuart McCutchan of Quincy, Illinois; Valerie McCutchan of Eugene, Oregon; and Marcia DuPont of Quincy, Illinois; 6 grandchildren, Iain and Duncan McCutchan, Anna Hanold, Dustin, Merrick, and Samantha DuPont; 6 great-grandchildren, Lili and Vada DuPont, Noah, Jonas and Benjamin Mercer and Audrey Hanold; 1 brother, Albert Dowacter; 2 sisters, Shirley Downing and Ginny Dorethy.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Doris Bramkamp and Bertie Jurgens; a brother, Sid Dowacter; and a granddaughter, Laura Mae DuPont.

Cremation has been accorded. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.

The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements.
