Don E Toland

Don E. Toland, 65, of Huntsville, IL died at 7:37 pm Sunday March 10, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, IL.

He was born October 16, 1958, in Macomb, Illinois to Lloyd E. ”Whitey” and Ila Mae Bartlow Toland. 

Don was a 1976 graduate of Southeastern High School. During his time there he was a member of the FFA, showed cattle, and participated in a host of shenanigans. He took over the family farm in 1991, raising corn, soybeans, and livestock. Don was a career semi driver, and took great pride in his truck. He also enjoyed pulling lawnmowers, tractor pulls, mud slings, and sharing stories over meals with friends daily at the local restaurants. Don always took time to tease those he cared about, and rarely turned down an opportunity for an ice cream—especially a “Rex special”. He was a member of the former Huntsville United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Gene. Don leaves behind many friends, family, and a Norwegian Elkhound, Cordell.

A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday March 14, 2024 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL with Rev. Dixie Croxton officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in Augusta, IL Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Augusta Children’s Park or Woodlawn Cemetery Association.
