Dellene Payne

Dellene Payne, 93, of Macomb, IL formerly of Good Hope, IL died at 8:08 am Monday April 3, 2023 at The Lamoine Retirement Living in Macomb, IL.

She was born on March 16, 1930 in Plymouth, IL to Albert “Peg” and Dorothy Mae Metcalf Nelson. She was united in marriage to William H. “Bill” Payne on July 13, 1949 in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2005.

Dellene was a 1948 graduate of Plymouth High School. She worked as the Dietary Supervisor at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL and as the Food Service Director at Wesley Village in Macomb, IL. She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by 4 daughters; Pam “Rob” Powell of Colchester, IL, Brenda L’Hommedieu of Macomb, IL, Roberta (Stan) Ault of Charlotte, NC and Cindy (Jerry) Sanchez of Galesburg, IL, a son, Randy (Karen) Payne of Plymouth, IL, 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and  great-great grandchildren, a niece, Robin Leonard and a nephew, Rick Cookson.

She was preceded in death by 3 sons, Jeffrey, Willie and Victor Payne, 3 grandsons, Trent Hainline, Ryan Leach and Shane Ault, a granddaughter, Nikki Sanchez and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barb and Jerry Cookson

Cremation has been accorded. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Scott’s cemetery near Plymouth. Memorial contributions may be made to Scott’s cemetery.

The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements.
