Dean Flesner, 82, of Golden, IL, passed away at 4:55 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Mt. Sterling Health and Rehab Center in Mt. Sterling, IL.
Born July 29, 1941, in Quincy, IL, Dean was the son of Herman and Emilie Flesner. He married Beth A. Abel on September 29, 1963. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2001. He later married Anne Irwin on December 18, 2008. She survives.
Dean had been employed at various agricultural companies in the area throughout his life. In his younger years, Dean enjoyed camping and was an avid horseman. More recently, he found great joy in a good card game with family and friends. He served his country in US Army.
Survivors in addition to his wife are his children, Deana (Kevin) Elbus, Quincy, IL, and Shawn Flesner, Golden, IL; his son-in-law, Craig Blickhan, Fowler, IL; his grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, and Mitchell Elbus, and Elizabeth Blickhan; three great-grandchildren; four step-children and several step-grandchildren; his brothers, Roger (Diana) Flesner, and Merlin (Betty) Flesner, both of Golden, and Larry (Sallie) Flesner, Carterville; his sister, Imogene Leenerts, Golden; his sisters in law, Marilyn Flesner, Norma Flesner, and Edna Tenhouse-Flesner, all of Golden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Beth, two daughters, Dawn Flesner and Melissa Blickhan, two granddaughters in infancy; three brothers, Virgil, Delbert, and Kenneth Flesner; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn (Elmer) Aden, Maxine (Herbie) Ideus, and Arnold Leenerts and a sister-in-law, Lois Flesner.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Golden Memorial Gardens by Rev. Tom Graves.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.
Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association or Blessing Hospice.
