David E. Kerr, 71, of Macomb, IL formerly of Augusta, IL died at 4:30 am Saturday March 2, 2024 at his home.
He was born on July 28, 1952 in Macomb, IL to Don and Doris Janssen Kerr. He was united in marriage to Katie Pindell on July 10, 1971 at the Bowen Christian Church. She survives.
David was a 1970 graduate of Augusta High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Illinois State University in Normal, IL. He was a retired farmer and had taught Agriculture in several area schools. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed raising and training English setter bird dogs. David authored two books “Tales of the Strange and Wonderful” and “More Tales of the Strange and Wonderful”. He was of the Christian faith.
He is survived along with his wife Katie by 5 sons; Tim (Michelle) Kerr of Augusta, IL, Nathan (Briana) Pindell of Macomb, IL and Daniel Kerr, Kobe Hillman and Steven Hillman all of Macomb, IL, a daughter, Lorree Kerr of Macomb, IL, 9 grandchildren; Ali, Abi, Ani and Carson Kerr, Demarco Cocran, Janaiylah Woodson, Jakyrah Robinson and Johnathan and Jamarri Staples, two brothers; Bob (Audrey Eyler) Kerr and Roger (Teresa) Kerr of Huntsville, IL.
He was preceded in death by parents, a sister, Donna Kerr and a brother John in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday March 7, 2024 at the Bowen Christian Church in Bowen, IL by Pastor Tom Spain. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn cemetery in Augusta, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 Wednesday March 6, 2024 at the Bowen Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bowen Christian Church or the LaPrairie Community Church.
