Darla Whitford

Darla Jean Whitford, 77, of Plymouth, IL passed away unexpectedly at 7:31 pm Tuesday April 15, 2025 at her home in Plymouth, IL.

She was born on July 10, 1947 in Carthage, IL to Floyd “Duck” And Doris Douglas Drake. She was united in marriage to Larry Dean Whitford on March 5, 1964 in Plymouth, IL. He survives. Darla attended Plymouth Schools. She owned and operated The Plant Stand Flower Shop in Plymouth for many years and also was employed at Ma & Pa’s Café in Plymouth. Darla was active with the Plymouth Old Settler’s for many years organizing and announcing the yearly parade.

Darla is survived along with her husband Larry by 2 daughters; Lauri Jean (Gary) Berman of Wauconda, IL. Lindsey (Alan) Post Whitford of Clayton, IL, a son Larry Gene Whitford of Macomb, IL, 3 grandchildren, Drake Berman, Elizabeth Whitford and Makenna Post, 3 sisters, Donna Drake of Quincy, IL Debbie Parks of Carthage, IL and Jet Drake of Winnetka, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Dick, Danny and Doran Drake.

Cremation has been accorded. Services will be held at a later date.

The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements.
