Betty L. Keyes, 94, of Bickford Cottage in Quincy, formerly of Port Charlotte, FL, and Camp Point, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Bickford Cottage.
Born May 4, 1929, in Baylis, IL, Betty was the daughter of Lester and Frieda Allen Kelly. She married Lawrence Read. He preceded her in death. She later married Robert Keyes. He preceded her in death.
Betty taught Sunday School throughout her adult life. She attended Blessing Rieman College of Nursing in Quincy. As a young woman, Betty served as a pastor's wife. Following the death of her first husband, she worked in nursing into her 80s until her retirement. Betty was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, FL, and attended Faith Baptist Church in Camp Point.
Survivors include her children, Robert Read (Linda), Tampa, FL; Laura Mahlburg (Jerry), Taylor, MI; Darcy Jones, Camp Point; Lynn Humke (Don), Camp Point; and John Read (Roxann), Orlando, FL; her grandchildren, Robert Read Jr., Paul Read, Sarah Duncan, Rebekah Harvell, Grace Gregory, Erin Brown, Char Hawkins, Joshua Hawkins, Chris Hawkins, Jeremy Hawkins, Shawn Jones, Emily Humke, Kelly Streng, Carmen Wooley, Bridgette Thomas, Brad Read, and Ben Read, her sister, Tina Cox (Charles), Macomb, IL, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; three sisters, Dorothy Kelly Staueffer, Mavis Kelly Jackson, and Shirley Kelly Gallaher, and her brother, Charles Kelly Jr.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at the Faith Baptist Church in Camp Point by Rev. Tom Robbins. Burial will follow at Baylis Cemetery, Baylis, IL.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the Faith Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blessing Rieman College of Nursing Scholarship Program or the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
